Second skin is a clear, breathable film dressing applied to a fresh tattoo straight after the session. It protects the wound from bacteria and rubbing, and unlike cling film it does not need changing several times a day.
How long do you keep second skin on?
The Dirty Lust aftercare instructions say to keep the dressing on for 1 to 4 days, as advised by your artist. The time depends on the size of the tattoo and how the skin reacts under the film. Plasma and ink can collect under the dressing. If you have any doubts, contact the studio.
What to do after removing the dressing
- Remove the film and wash the tattoo very thoroughly.
- Pat it dry with a paper towel and apply a thin layer of ointment, such as Bepanthen.
