The upper arm offers room for a more detailed design. A forearm tattoo is easy to see and can be planned alongside future pieces. Hand tattoos are highly visible, and the skin is used constantly, so placement, design limits and aftercare deserve a separate conversation. No single spot works for everyone.
If you are considering a forearm tattoo, check how the motif looks with your arm in a natural position. If you are thinking about a hand tattoo, do not simply shrink a design intended for a larger area.
One piece or a future sleeve?
A small tattoo can function well on its own, but its placement affects future possibilities. If you want to combine several motifs in the future, discuss this before the first session. The artist may leave space for main elements or propose a direction for the composition.

How to prepare the consultation?
Photograph the entire arm from the front, side and back in a natural position. Show any existing tattoos. Mark the approximate area for the new work and say whether you want it visible in short sleeves. Include the motif and two or three style references. For a large project, do not judge scale from a phone screen alone. Browse the studio portfolio and check who made comparable pieces.
