Professional tattoo creams are products made specifically for caring for fresh and healed tattooed skin. Manufacturers combine moisturising, soothing and protective ingredients. They often have a lighter texture than classic pharmacy ointments.
How are they different from pharmacy ointments?
Pharmacy products, such as dexpanthenol ointments, are general-purpose and cheap. Tattoo creams cost more, but they usually absorb faster and stain clothes less. Some also come in versions with SPF to protect a healed tattoo from the sun. A comparison with pharmacy products is in the pharmacy ointments and creams entry.
How to choose a cream
The best approach is to ask your artist. They know how the tattoo was done and which dressing they applied, for example second skin. Whatever product you use, apply a thin layer and stop if your skin reacts with irritation.
