Contraindications for getting a tattoo

Updated: 13 October 2026

Contraindications for getting a tattoo are health conditions in which tattooing is not advisable or needs a doctor's approval. Tattoos are safe for most people, but tattooing breaks the skin, so not every body tolerates it well.

When we do not tattoo

At Dirty Lust we do not tattoo in cases including:

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  • epilepsy,
  • haemophilia,
  • skin diseases,
  • being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Diabetes, a tendency to faint and circulatory problems call for particular caution. In these cases, talk to your doctor before the session and tell the artist about your health and any medication you take.

What risks should you know about?

The Polish sanitary inspectorate lists, among others, infections from unsterile equipment and allergic reactions to pigments, which can appear even years later (PSSE: tattoos, infection and complication risks, in Polish). A tattoo over a scar needs a separate assessment by a dermatologist.

Age requirements and other conditions are set out in our studio terms.
