Tattoo in Warsaw: a booking guide

Getting a tattoo while visiting Warsaw? Prepare the details for a quote, confirm your appointment and discuss aftercare that fits your travel plans.

How can you fit a session into your travel plans?

Visiting Warsaw and thinking about a tattoo? The best first step is not to choose a design from a search result and ask for an instant price. Tell the studio what you want, where it should go and when you will be in the city. A clear brief gives the team a chance to assess the project, match you with an appropriate artist and explain what can be agreed before you travel.

This guide covers the questions most useful to an international client. It does not promise a particular artist, appointment date or price.

What to send in your first message

Describe the subject in one or two sentences. Attach two or three references and say what you like about each: composition, line work, colour or mood. Include the approximate size and a clear photo of the placement area. If there are older tattoos nearby, show them too. Let the studio know which dates you will be in Warsaw and whether you can return for another appointment if the project needs more than one stage.

References are a starting point, not a request to duplicate someone else's tattoo. A design that works on another person's arm may need different proportions on yours. If you do not know the name of the style, describe its visual qualities instead of guessing.

How to choose an artist

Look for work close to your intended style and scale. A large blackwork piece and a fine-line botanical drawing call for different strengths. Check that gallery images identify the artist. If available, look at healed as well as fresh tattoos. Ask the studio who currently takes on projects like yours; an older article may mention an artist who is no longer available. Browse Dirty Lust’s portfolio.

If you are unsure between styles, send examples of both. It is more useful to say “I like the bold outline in this image but prefer a limited colour palette” than simply “I want traditional”. The artist can then discuss a direction that suits your motif and placement.

Price, deposit and design changes

A meaningful quote needs a defined project. Size matters, but so do detail, colour, placement and the artist's work. Ask what the quote covers, whether the design is included, how changes are handled and whether a deposit is required. Get the current conditions from the studio before making a payment. Do not rely on a price or policy quoted in an older blog post.

For larger pieces, discuss the stages and how each is priced. If you have a fixed budget, mention it early. That does not guarantee a particular result, but it helps the artist decide whether a suitable version of your idea is possible.

Before the appointment

Confirm the date, time, address and contact method in writing. Dirty Lust currently lists its studio at Raszyńska 3, apartment 6, near Plac Zawiszy in Warsaw; verify these details in your appointment confirmation before travelling. Plan enough time for discussion, stencil placement and the work itself. Wear clothing that makes the chosen area accessible and comfortable.

Tell the studio in advance if you have concerns about your skin, medication, a previous reaction or a recent illness. The studio cannot replace a medical assessment. If a health question could affect the procedure, speak to a clinician and inform the artist.

At the studio

Check the final design at its actual size and look at the stencil while standing naturally. If the placement does not feel right, say so before tattooing begins. Ask how breaks work and how to signal that you need one. The studio should explain its hygiene procedures and give you clear instructions for the specific dressing and tattoo you receive.

Poland's Chief Sanitary Inspectorate publishes hygiene recommendations for services that break the skin, including tattooing. If you have questions about the work area or materials, ask before the session starts.

Aftercare when you are travelling

Before leaving, get the aftercare instructions that apply to your dressing and ask whom to contact if a problem develops after you leave Warsaw. A generic online timeline cannot replace those instructions. If your trip includes swimming, strong sun exposure or strenuous activity, discuss this before booking so the date can be assessed realistically. You can also read our tattoo healing guide.

Once the tattoo has fully healed, protect exposed skin from excessive UV. The Polish public health portal pacjent.gov.pl outlines general sun-protection measures. Do not apply general advice for healed skin to a fresh tattoo without the studio's instructions. Seek medical advice if you develop worrying symptoms.

A useful message template

Example message: “Hi, I will be in Warsaw from [date] to [date]. I would like a [subject] tattoo on my [placement], approximately [size]. I have attached references and a photo of the area. In the first reference I like [detail], but I would like an original design. Could you tell me whether an artist is available for this kind of work, what information you need for a quote and how booking works?”

Replace the brackets with your details. The more clearly you describe the project, the easier it is for the studio to give you a useful answer.
