Tattoo gift vouchers: a buying guide

A tattoo gift voucher in Warsaw: how do you choose the value? Check what to ask the studio about expiry, extra payments and redeeming the gift.

By Szymon Godlewski

What should you check before buying?

A voucher can make a thoughtful gift if the recipient chooses the motif, placement and artist. A tattoo is personal. Do not surprise someone by booking them a session without asking. Give them room for a consultation and establish the redemption conditions before you buy.

How much does a tattoo voucher cost?

If you know only the recipient's broad idea, do not try to price a tattoo from an internet photograph. Ask the studio which voucher values are currently available and how a recipient pays the difference if the final project costs more. Also ask whether the voucher can be used in part and whether any unused balance remains available. Ask for the terms in writing.

If you do not know the motif, present the voucher as a contribution towards a future project, not a promise that it will cover a complete tattoo. Prices depend on scale, style and artist. The recipient should know the voucher's value before the consultation.

Expiry date and redemption

Before paying, check the expiry date and whether the recipient must book an appointment or actually have the session before that date. Those are different conditions. Ask how to arrange a consultation, whether any artist can be chosen and what happens if the appointment changes. Check that the conditions are available before purchase and in the voucher or order confirmation.

The European Consumer Centre in Poland describes a dispute in which a buyer had not been told the vouchers' expiry date. This is not an assessment of Dirty Lust's terms; it is a reason to make them clear in advance.

Physical or digital?

Ask which voucher formats the studio currently offers, whether shipping costs extra and how purchase is confirmed. Do not assume an offer from several months ago still applies. If buying well ahead of the occasion, account for delivery time and the date from which validity starts.

What should the recipient do?

Ideally, the recipient contacts the studio themselves. They can share references, describe a placement and choose an artist after viewing the portfolio. A voucher does not replace a design consultation. If the person does not want a tattoo, do not pressure them to use the gift.

Before the session, read the process guide and confirm the current booking terms. Questions about health, medication or skin conditions should be discussed with a clinician and the studio before the appointment.

Questions to ask before buying

  • What are the current minimum and maximum voucher values?
  • When does validity start, and what must happen before it expires?
  • Can the recipient pay extra for a larger project or use only part of the value?
  • Is the voucher tied to a person or artist?
  • What are the rules for rescheduling, cancellation and complaints?
  • In what format is it issued, and does delivery cost extra?

Confirm the current purchase and redemption terms with the studio. Ask Dirty Lust in Warsaw about a gift voucher.
